Student Visa

If you wish to study in Australia, you may apply for a student visa. A student visa allows you to undertake studies at a registered training organisation or an Australian educational institute.
You must be a genuine student and satisfy the criteria to be eligible to apply for a student visa.
Completing your studies in Australia does not guarantee that you will be granted a permanent visa at the end of your studies. There are separate requirements that are required to be met.
There are a number of different types of student visas. The following subclasses are based on the education sector of your main course of study.
- 570 – Independent ELICOS
- 571 – Schools
- 572 – Vocational Education and Training
- 573 – Higher Education
- 574 – Postgraduate Research
- 575 – Non-Award
- 576 – AusAID or Defence
